Insurance Plans
IUPUI Health Services strongly recommends that all students be enrolled in a health insurance plan with coverage for accidents and hospitalizations.
Chickering Plans
Student health insurance is available through The Chickering Group, a division of Aetna. Enrollment in the student health insurance plan is mandatory for medical students, international students, and student academic appointees. Enrollment in the student health insurance plan is voluntary for all other students. Dental students are required to have insurance, but no specific plan is mandated. Questions about insurance coverage need to be directed to the insurance company.

Filing Insurance Claims
Chickering plans have changed effective August 15, 2007
IUPUI Health Services will file insurance claims only for medical students. Student academic appointees (SAA), and international students must pay their bill at the clinic and submit the claim form to Chickering to obtain reimbursement. All voluntary Chickering student policy holders and students with other insurance plans must pay for their visits out-of-pocket at the time of services. These students will be provided with the necessary form to submit to their insurance agency for reimbursement based on the plan’s guidelines.
Please contact the Chickering on-site representative if you have questions.
